Job Description:

Scope of Work:
The business development specialist will begin do the following tasks:
1.    Desk Review:  gather information about existing efforts, relevant policies and programs related to Women’s small and medium enterprises development WSMED in Afghanistan.
2.    Stakeholder Engagement: Conduct meetings, conference and roundtables to understand the existing situation and vision of the stakeholders for the development of an export trade mark for women’s products.
3.    Identifying market opportunities from community to international level, and how they might be accessed by women business owners.
4.    Identifying specific elements of value chains and priorities women’s need for deferent kinds of products and how gaps might be filled.
5.    Identifying viable import substitution opportunities for women working in the informal and formal economy, including at household level.
6.    Identifying barriers to women’s participation in the business world and enabling business environment for them.
7.    Identifying different sectors for women enterprises and priorities them based on investment opportunities.
8.    Gather information about export procedures and develop a detailed guideline for interested parties.
9.    Develop a detailed information package about registration procedures, taxation, investment opportunities, export and import procedures, product standardization etc.
10.     Identify access to new market
11.    Facilitate women's access to export procedures and access to B2B and B2C conferences both within and outside the country, in coordination with key stakeholders.
12.    Designing a mechanism to support women's innovations and initiatives, and present effective programs to motivate and empower women to invest.
13.    Design a mechanism to build a strong hub for business women and women entrepreneurs with private sector to exchange their business idea and find investment opportunities in different sectors.
14.    Providing support and technical expertise to make workshops for women products promotion and public awareness of women products brand.  
Qualifications and Experiences required:
The candidate should have the following qualifications, skills and experiences:
•    Master Degree in Economics or Business Administration or Public Policy or, Development Economics, or Development Studies
•    At least 3-5 years of relevant experience of business development with government or international organizations;
•    Experience in Marketing and policy development   
•    Experiences  in capacity development of private sector;
•    Good team worker, capable of working effectively in a very challenging environment
•    Previous experience in post-conflict environments a plus
•     Previous work in Afghanistan will be highly preferred
Core Competencies:
1.    The consultant should have broad experience on all relevant aspects in drafting and finalizing a sound plan for data collection, date analyses, solving issues and stakeholders mapping for WSMED
2.    Strong analytical skills;
3.    Strong oral and written English skills;
4.    Experience with international and/or bilateral/multilateral development institutions would be an advantage,
5.    Flexibility and creativity in working in a dynamic environment;  
6.    Ability to create and nurture effective working relationships with the  stakeholders;
7.    Excellent presentation and communication skills;
8.    Experience working with high level public and private sector counterparts, highly desirable;
9.    Active user of MS Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and other common soft tools
10.    Willingness to travel if needed
