The second National Export Strategy High-level Board of Afghanistan meeting was held.
The meeting, which was attended by representatives of government organizations, international partners and the private sector at the conference hall of the Ministry of Industry and Commerce, chaired by Honorable Mr. Ajmal Ahmady, Acting Minister of Industry and Commerce, discussed the following issues:
(1) Reporting on progress in implementation of the National Export Strategy, (2) reporting on National Trade Policy, (3) reporting on Transit Policy, and (4) reporting on the Advanced Integration Framework Program.
National Export Strategy is prepared by Ministry of Industry and Commerce with the cooperation of International Trade Centre and European Union and coordination of Private Sector and has prioritized the six key sectors such as: (1) dried fruits and nuts, (2) fresh fruits and vegetables, (3) saffron, (4) marble and granite, (5) carpets and (6) precious stones and jewelry.
During the meeting, participants stated their views on the strategy, and emphasized that the implementation of this strategy will increase the volume of exports, development of domestic production and drives the private sector.
The meeting clinched with an emphasis on more coherence and cooperation in the implementation of the national export strategy and regular reporting.
