Deputy Minister of Industry and Commerce visits two steel mills

Mr. Mohammad Sulaiman Binshah, Deputy Minister of Industry and Commerce discussed the opportunities and challenges of steel mills in the meeting with the National Steel Union of Afghanistan.

In this meeting, the leadership of the National Steel Union of Afghanistan shared their problems in the fields of smuggling of old iron abroad, the time-consuming process of preferential tariffs for raw materials and machinery, and the lack of domestic markets for their products.

During the meeting Mr. Binshah said, all the problems of the steelmakers will be inspected and he will meet with the Ministry of Finance and other ministries to solve the problems of this sector.

Mr. Binshah also added, to provide the necessary facilities for the growth of the country's steel industry, the policy of the steel sector will be reviewed and sent to the High Economic Council for approval.

Moreover, the Deputy Minister of Industry and Commerce visited the steel mills of Khan Steel and Hofyani Sadat and emphasized the country's self-sufficiency in the production of various types of hardware.

These two production mills, with the investment of domestic investors, started their activities in the steel sector a few years ago, and now they produce different types of iron and have created jobs for dozens.
