Afghanistan and Uzbekistan Hold Bilateral Trade Meeting

Afghanistan and Uzbekistan held a bilateral trade meeting at the Termez Trade Complex, attended by IEA's Acting Minister of Industry and Commerce honorable Mr. Alhaj Nooruddin Azizi, and Minister of Investment, Industry, and Trade of Uzbekistan honorable Mr. Laziz Qudratov. The meeting was held in accordance with the previous agreements and within the framework of implementing the commitments made during the visit of IEA's Deputy Prime Minister for Economic Affairs honorable Mr. Mullah Abdul Ghani Baradar to the Republic of Uzbekistan. The meeting was also attended by both countries' private sector delegations.
During the meeting, key topics, including Uzbekistan’s investment in various economic sectors of Afghanistan, such as the establishment of an economic-trade complex in Hairatan port, food production and processing, poultry farming, pharmaceutical industry, cement production, construction materials, horticulture (pistachio orchards), and the processing of vegetables and fruits were discussed, whereas a total amount of over USD 200 million will be invested in Balkh, Samangan, and Kunduz provinces.
Additionally, other topics including holding a regional exhibition in Termez where neighboring countries will participate, the establishing trade houses in both countries, cooperation in customs filed, standardization of products, agricultural collaborations, capacity building, facilitating issuance of long-term and multiple-entry business visas for traders of both countries, and formation of a joint committee to address traders' issues at the Termez Trade Complex were also discussed.
It is noteworthy that Acting Minister of Industry and Commerce honorable Mr. Alhaj Nooruddin Azizi, and Minister of Investment, Industry, and Trade of Uzbekistan honorable Laziz Qudratov, along with their accompanying delegations, also visited the specified area for building the economic-trade complex.
