Efforts continue to reopen Ports for Afghanistan's exports to Pakistan
Saturday 6 June 2020
Although the Islamic Republic of Pakistan has vowed to reopen its borders to Afghanistan exports after Eid al-Fitr, this promise has unfortunately not materialized since the country's harvest season (fruits and vegetables) has also arrived.
Payable to the seriousness and urgency of the issue, a joint meeting was held between the Ministry of Industry and Commerce, the leadership of the Afghanistan-Pakistan Joint Chamber, the leadership of the Afghanistan Fruit and Vegetable Union and a group of businessmen and exporters of Kandahar province under the chairmanship of Mr. Abdul Karim Malikyar Acting Deputy Minister for Industry and Commerce.
In this meeting, the problems were discussed and the ways to solve them were conversed. It was decided to reopen the ports through diplomatic channels and joint talks between private sector institutions and exporters of the two countries.
