The 3rd meeting of the High-Level Trade Improvement Working Group in Afghanistan (Saffron Sector) was held in Herat Province

The third meeting of the High-Level Working Group on Improving the Saffron Sector in Afghanistan was held under the chairmanship of H.E Nisar Ahmad Ghoryani Minister of Industry and Commerce with the participation of representatives of governmental and international institutions, the private sector, and officials of saffron companies in Herat province.

H.E Nisar Ahmad Ghoryani Minister of Industry and Commerce said the Afghanistan Trade Improvement Group is working under the leadership of this ministry and with the financial and technical support of international organizations to study the trade situation in the post-Corona.

Mr. Ghoryani added, the main purpose of this working group is; Investigating the opportunities and challenges of the country's trade route and transforming the challenges into opportunities and developing the process of industrialization,,, and increasing Afghanistan's trade with countries in the region and the world.

The Minister of Industry and Commerce, referring to the increase in the country's saffron exports said, one of the sectors of this working group is working on it to find on how to improve its cultivation, harvesting, processing, packaging and export.

In this meeting, achievements, priority measures for the saffron sector, training and awareness of farmers, development of saffron processing, mechanism of testing and certification of saffron, development of access to international markets, international exhibitions and consortium representation plan for Afghanistan Saffron agricultural-trade companies were discussed.

Afghanistan's Trade Improvement Working Group works on the carpet, saffron, dried and fresh fruit, precious and semi-precious stones, and cashmere sectors to explore the opportunities and challenges facing these sectors.
