Acting Minister of Industry and Commerce Meets with The Delegation of Uzbekistan

The IEA's Acting Minister of Industry and Commerce, honorable Mr. Alhaj Nooruddin Azizi met with the delegation of Republic of Uzbekistan, comprised of government officials and private sector members of the said country, today after noon. The meeting aimed at further coordination, on implementation of commitments made between the two countries, enhancing trade, and supporting programs of Uzbekistan’s private sector.
The Uzbekistan delegation initially briefed the Acting Minister of Industry and Commerce on their meetings with officials of Afghanistan’s Ministry of Mines and Petroleum and trade discussions which had been held between private sector members of both countries. They expressed interest in balancing trade between Afghanistan and Uzbekistan by importing Afghanistan's coal.
The IEA's Acting Minister of Industry and Commerce, while supporting the programs of Uzbekistan’s private sector, requested holding up to 5 exhibitions of national products of both countries annually at the Termez International Trade Center.
Further in the meeting, discussions were made regarding finalizing a preferential trade agreement between the two countries, addressing necessary issues of cement factory in Samangan province, as well as establishing trade houses in each country.
It is noteworthy, that the delegation of Republic of Uzbekistan arrived in Kabul yesterday to implement commitments made during the visit of the Prime Minister of Uzbekistan, honorable Mr. Abdulla Aripov to Afghanistan.
Earlier today, trade meetings were held in presence of Deputy Minister of Industry and Commerce honorable Mr. Mawlawi Ahmadullah Zahid, as a result of which, business agreements with a total value of $4.5 million signed between private sector members of both countries.
