Afghanistan Saffron Promotion Conference

Trade Attaché in Mumbai-based Center held an online conference to promote Afghan saffron and trade connection between Afghan and Indian businessmen in cooperation with the Consulate General of the IR of Afghanistan in Mumbai, India, Trade Law Development Program, and USAID.
The online conference was attended by government officials and businessmen from two countries, representatives of international organizations, representatives of the Afghan-Indian private sector, businesswomen, and 100 Afghan and Indian saffron-producing agricultural companies.
At the beginning of the conference, Ms. Zakia Wardak, Consul General of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan in Mumbai, thanked the Trade Law Development Program (CLDP) and the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) for facilitating the conference. she expressed gratitude and announced the increase in demand of Indian companies to buy Afghan saffron.
Explaining her office's plan to grow Afghanistan's exports to India, Ms. Tina, USAID Country Director for Afghanistan, explained that the USAID Office is working with the US Department of Commerce and Agriculture to work with the Afghan and Indian private and public sectors to increasing the supply of saffron, reducing trade costs and providing better services to Indian markets and consumers.
Representatives of the Afghanistan-India private sector and Afghan saffron-growing companies also discussed at the conference with Indian saffron companies how to increase the level of Afghan saffron exports to India.
Concluding, the trade attaché of the Ministry of Industry and Commerce based in Mumbai held a B2B meeting between 50 Afghan and 50 Indian businessmen and discussed the increase of joint cooperation between businessmen of the two countries.
