400 Hectares of Land Is Specified for the Establishment of a Special Economic Zone in Balkh Province

The Acting Minister of Industry and Commerce, honorable Mr. Alhaj Nooruddin Azizi, along with his accompanying delegation, during their visit to Balkh province, in presence of Deputy Governor of the province, honorable Mr. Mawlawi Noorulhadi Abu Idrees, specified an area of 400 Hectares of land near Hairatan port for the establishment of a special economic zone.
The establishment of special economic zones for the first time, is one of the initiatives of the leadership of the Ministry of Industry and Commerce, in order to attract and encourage greater investments in the country. The ministry has proposed the creation of the aforementioned zones in Afghanistan to the Cabinet of the Islamic Emirate.
Additionally, following a proposal by the Ministry of Industry and Commerce, the ministry, as per Article 17 of the procedure of the Committee for Management Facilities to Industrialists, Traders, and Returnee Investors, the Ministry is assigned to establish industrial zones for the operations of industrial factories in ports or near borders, which aims to promote industrial growth and encourage industrialists and traders.
