Cotton Production Increment in Kandahar Province

With the increase of cotton cultivation in the southern part of the country, the level of cotton production and the activities of companies in production and packaging of cotton, production of cottonseed oil and soap in Kandahar province has also increased dramatically.

Twenty companies in Shurandam Industrial-Park of Kandahar province have been established with the investment of private sector, are engaged in the production and packaging of cotton, cottonseed oil and soap, whose products are sold in Kandahar, Ghazni, Helmand, Zabul and Kabul and besides, exports packaged cotton to Pakistan.

These companies, which provide raw materials from cotton fields of Kandahar, Helmand, Farah and Zabul provinces, have created jobs to more than 1,000 people.

Moreover, with the increase of cotton cultivation, the companies operating in this sector, have increased their investment level up to one million US dollars.
