Review of the Procedure Related to Tobacco Imports and its Products

A meeting was held to review the procedure related to tobacco imports and its products with the participation of representatives of the Ministries of Finance, Public Health, Internal Affairs, and Hajj and Religious Affairs.

In this meeting, the status of tobacco and its products (cigarettes) affairs procedure, which has been prepared and arranged by the Legal Affairs Directorate was discussed.

Moreover, increasing tariffs on cigarette imports, raising public awareness of the harms of cigarettes and tobacco, and the responsibilities of government and non-government organizations in preventing the smuggling of cigarettes into the country were also deliberated.

This procedure is prepared following the Tobacco Control Law of the Government of the IR of Afghanistan and will be finalized after consulting the relevant agencies and inserting corrective opinions.
