A Session Titled "Sustainable Development and Supporting Economic Programs in Panjshir Province" Held

A meeting titled Sustainable Development and Supporting Economic Programs in Panjshir Province was held. The meeting chaired by Acting Minister of Industry and Commerce honorable Mr. Alhaj Nooruddin Azizi and attended by representatives from all eight districts of the said province, as well as officials from national and international institutions involved in project implementation in Afghanistan.
Initially, the Acting Minister of Industry and Commerce stated that one of the ministry’s key programs is entrepreneurship development through establishing industrial parks and designating areas for enterprises in all provinces, aimed at creating employment opportunities for the people.
Following, representatives from Panjshir Province highlighted their challenges, including poverty, luck of job opportunities for youth, luck of proper drainage systems, natural disasters, destruction of agricultural lands during floods in Panjshir River, lack of standard electricity, inadequate roads in the districts, and shortages of drinking water. They also identified potential economic opportunities in the province, such as livestock farming, poultry farming, horticulture, honey beekeeping, cold storage facilities, fish farming, tourism, and handicrafts.
Further in the meeting, officials from national and international institutions, while expressing gratitude for the event, provided information regarding their projects in Panjshir Province. They acknowledged the leadership of the Ministry of Industry and Commerce in facilitating collaboration and pledged further efforts to implement additional projects addressing the challenges.
At the conclusion, Alhaj Azizi, stated that similar meetings on sustainable development and supporting economic programs would continue with representatives from other less-developed provinces. He stressed that activities in trade and entrepreneurship is fundamental approach, more effective than cash assistance.
Mr. Azizi also expressed appreciation for the contributions of national and international organizations. He highlighted that there are approximately 122 sectors in the field of entrepreneurship, within which the organizations can design and implement programs based on the specific needs of each province.
