KABUL-The first exclusive Afghan saffron exhibition was held in Kabul with the participation of government officials, representatives of the private sector and saffron-producing and commercial companies with the aim of increasing saffron cultivation, processing, packaging and marketing of this valuable plant at home and overseas.
At the exhibition, Dr. Anwarul Haq Ahadi, Minister of Agriculture, Livestock and Irrigation said, 21 tons of saffron is produced in Afghanistan this year and this ministry is working to improve the quality of processing, packaging and increase its cultivation and production in the coming years.
Mr. Mohammad Mustafa Majeedyar, Acting Director General of Finance and Administration of the Ministry of Industry and Commerce, who spoke at the exhibition said, the ministry aims to explore new markets for Afghanistan products, especially saffron; MoIC has developed regular plans and has also shared with commercial attaches.
In this exhibition, about 40 agricultural, production and trade companies throughout Afghanistan have exhibited their products.
In order to increase the volume of saffron exports in the country, the Ministry of Industry and Commerce is forming a special committee in the working group for improving trade in Afghanistan in this field and is working on marketing and selling it to different countries of the world.
