The First Direct Shipment from China to Afghanistan Arrives

As a result of the efforts and visits of IEA's Acting Minister of Industry and Commerce, honorable Mr. Alhaj Nooruddin Azizi, to China, Kazakhstan, and Uzbekistan, which aimed at strengthening trade ties with the said countries, Afghanistan's first direct import shipment by railway from China arrived.
The large shipment, consisting of 55 containers, was loaded in China and, passing through Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan, arrived in Mazar-i-Sharif city of Balkh province, today at noon time.
A ceremony was held in the province to mark the occasion, attended by the Acting Minister of Industry and Commerce and his accompanying team, the Deputy Governor of Balkh province, the head of Chamber of Commerce and Investment of Balkh, and other officials.
It is noteworthy, that the shipment took approximately 22 days to reach Afghanistan. On its return, it is planned to carry Afghanistan's export goods to the targeted countries.
