H.E Nisar Ahmad Ghoryani Minister of Industry and Commerce in a video conference spoke with the leadership of the Economic Cooperation Organization (ECO) on investment opportunities in Afghanistan, the views of the Ministry of Industry and Commerce on regional cooperation, especially with the ECO and visa facilities between ECO member countries.

H.E Ghoryani said, Afghanistan has made many reforms to attract investment and provide the necessary facilities for international and domestic investors in various sectors, the most obvious of which is the simplify of licensing process.

Mr. Ghoryani added, the Ministry of Industry and Commerce is trying to attract international investors by providing the necessary facilities to increase investment in Afghanistan and called on the leadership of ECO to encourage investors from member countries in the energy, mining and health sectors to invest in Afghanistan, Moreover, asked the ECO leadership to facilitate the Visa issuance process for Afghan businessmen.

In another part of his speech, Mr. Ghoryani referred to the vital role of Afghanistan in the ECO organization and said, Afghanistan is the intersection which connects Central Asian countries with South Asian countries and can be considered as a transit-trade connection point of the region.

Economic Cooperation Organization (ECO) leadership welcomed the new plans of the Ministry of Industry and Commerce to expand economic, transit-trade and investment cooperation and said, the ECO organization is committed to increase its level of cooperation with Afghanistan.

The organization's leadership added, the visa problems for Afghan truck drivers is solved, and the organization will establish a fund to finance investment projects in various sectors, as well as an Afghanistan-centric industrial zone.

Concluding, the parties assessed the future of cooperation between Afghanistan and the member countries of the Economic Cooperation Organization (ECO) and pledged to increase the level of their meetings.
